Some parts were challenging to get through. The book within this book started out comedically dark but took a darker turn towards the end. For that reason, it may not be appropriate and/or it requires a trigger warning for some people. I feel like I can’t fairly assess whether or not I found the characters lovable, or if there was enough character development because I saw American Fiction prior to reading the book. Overall a good read.
