aw man I’m less than halfway through and idk how I’m gonna finish this
nobody does found family like TJ Klune and this was so so lovely and I was so so excited and then they went and acted like imprinting is not just pedophilia and my dude it IS and it’s GROSS 😭 get AWAY from that CHILD sir

I’m done and I’m so mad because it’s so good other than that and it added NOTHING to the plot
I will be continuing the series if it stops this nonsense

Starts off as a coming of age story with fantasy elements, Ox is from a broken home. He’s a super kind kid but socially awkward and trying to find his place in the world. A new family moves in close to him and he instantly connects with them. They turn out to be a family of werewolves and he gets invited into the pack (along with his Mom).

-Ox and Joe started off as friends, Ox being 16 and Joe being just 10 at the time. I thought their relationship was sweet and brotherly….until it wasn’t.
The 6 year age gap wasn’t a problem for me really, it was the dynamic of it.
Maybe it was because the audio book narrator kept his voice child like even as Joe aged into a teen.
Or maybe it was because this story started off with Joe only being 10 having all these big feelings which were encouraged by his elders. I’ve read other opinions and it seems that werewolves have different rules when it comes to age of consent…but I’m a human and cannot relate lol

I found that the story was kind of bleh too. There was nothing that excited me or compelled me to want more. Werewolf packs seemed cool and some elements were. I appreciated how the author made the wolf/human characteristics very real. I appreciated Ox’s character and I found him endearing and amusingly awkward.
But at the end of the day it just wasn’t for me.
