This is a twilight fanfic from the POV of the werewolves and if everyone was gay. Considering that twilight isn’t a masterpiece already a fanfic of it is downright terrible. The pacing is all over the place. There is no narrative arc. The character development goes in circles. Same as the plot. The villain is gimmicky and has unclear motivations. No character has a distinctive voice, Ox is annoying and Jo is a child. Literally. The age gap is all kinds of wrong. 10 and 16? Why. And they get together when it’s 17 and 23? Was it really that hard for TJ Kline to type in 18? Not that it makes is much better but it’s already fucked up as it is with the imprinting of Jo on Ox at 10yo… there was literally NO REASON for this. And then Jo is away for 3 years of his adult life. And the whole last 200 pages are how they’re still mad at each other, achieved nothing of what they were meant to while they were apart and everyone is generally just crying all the time because they can’t fuck the person they want right this instance.

This is poorly written, dialogues are stilted and stiff and the narrative is meandering at best but mostly all over the place and looping in circles. It’s unedited and feels like it’s been taken straight from a (bad) wattpad story. Everything and everyone is cringe or icky. This is the epitome of men will do anything but go to therapy. Ox gives me major man with a podcast vibe (and not in a good way).

Overall, long, bland, boring, cringe and quite not ok. I’m DNFing this series.

“Wolfsong” is, without a doubt, the best werewolf fantasy romance I’ve ever read. It’s got everything you could want in a werewolf romance—an immersive world, intense pack dynamics, and a love story that will sweep you off your feet. But what sets this book apart is how masterfully T.J. Klune weaves themes of loss, grief, betrayal, and life into the narrative, creating an emotional depth that is rarely seen in the genre. Every page resonates with raw, heartfelt emotion, and you’ll find yourself deeply invested in the characters and their journey. It’s not just a story about werewolves; it’s a profound exploration of what it means to love and live after devastating loss. If you’re a fan of werewolf romance with substance, “Wolfsong” is an absolute must-read.

Fated mates that didn’t make me cringe, found family done is such a beautiful way. Sentences where you could both laugh and cry at the same time. I adore.
