I normally don't include books I read for school in my Goodreads, but since this is a novel, and one I *really, really* liked and enjoyed, I'm allowing one exception and including it in my list of books read for this year.

Amazing. That is the only word that describes it. Only I wouldn't ever be able to re-read it anytime soon.

Wow. It's a classic for a reason. Jane Eyre is a heroine of the ages, one who speaks her mind and has courage to share her heart. Bronte is an excellent writer, which propels you in to the setting of the book. The descriptions are poetic, the dialogue lively, but most importantly, I cared about all the characters right away. I love Jane Eyre, and because of this, I loved the book.

I picked up my copy of Jane Eyre the other day to check on something, and found myself re-reading the entire novel. This is the first time I've re-read it since I began writing novels myself, and I find a new, deeper appreciation for Bronte's skill in crafting her heroine.

Jane Eyre has been one of my favorite novels since I first read the Classics Illustrated version as a child. When I read the novel as a grown woman, Jane is a heroine I can admire at a whole new level. She doesn't settle for what society tells her is best, she holds fast to her independence, her dreams, and sets her own course. It's much more than a gothic love story, it's a tale of a woman's growth and strength in a world where she was viewed as having limited options.

If you've never read Jane Eyre, check it out. It might surprise you.

I liked it, but it took some will to get through. There were also some things that I would discuss with others who have read this, like the "my master" stuff... Overall, good book.

Wonderful story! I am not sure how it compares to the novel, but manga classics always strives to be just like the original written work. If you like romance, this should be something on your list.

*3.5 stars
I enjoyed Jane as the main character, she is a complex character who is constantly developing. I really enjoyed this first half of the book.
in the second half romance was mixed into it and I wasn't feeling the romance. I was constantly annoyed by the love interest and I didn't like. That is why I removed 1.5 stars, in the end I could already predict what was going to happen and I didn't want that to happen, so it took me much longer to finish to last few chapters.
I listened to the audiobook from librivox by Elizabeth Klett, I really enjoy the audiobooks she does.

Need to re-read, as I read this when I was 16! I remember liking it, though, and being fairly horrified by the concept of the crazy wife in the attic.
