Good adaption but I felt like they could have used more variation in the expressions of the characters. They often felt really lifeless. Overall, it was a good read and the drawing was cute but the jokes were often said with a straight face and ignored.

Good if you want the basics of the story or trying to get a younger person to read Charlotte Brontë.
emotional sad medium-paced

I feel like this adaptation was well done. It made the story very accessible to anyone. The art work really brought the story to life. The story itself was very emotional. It brought out a lot of anger. There were so many characters to hate. It was kind of depressing I don't know that I could have gotten through the long form in one sitting. I think it would be one of those stories that you have to set down often.

I received an e-ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have read the book and watched almost every adaptation of it! The manga was well-drawn and despite having Jane drawn like a child, I enjoyed every page of this manga!

The illustrations are beautiful and the adaption stays faithful to the classic! This is perfect for those who have a bit of trouble in getting though the original text; I feel they will be more motivated to read the original. It's also good for readers who are just starting to venture into the classics. And those who need a little bit of help visualizing certain parts in the novel won't be disappointed either.

Jane Eyre is up there with my favorite stories of all time! I really enjoyed the adaptation but there was one place where it fell a little short…

LIKES:
1) The story stayed close to the original. I read another adaptation and it was so off the mark and missed too many important parts. This version really took you through the entire story!
2) the anime feel… I loved seeing these characters through the illustrations. They were super cute. (Just don’t get why they always seemed to be yelling)
3) at first it was weird but I didn’t really enjoy the reading right to left and starting from the back. I think I not got confused a few times.

DISLIKES:
1) they didn’t put in the MOST famous quote from Brontë. They did a great job with most of the language and staying true to the time period, but I was so looking forward to “I am not bird…” not included

A great refresher on the novel. If you enjoyed Brontë’s Jane Eyre, you’d probably like this illustrated adaptation.

I love these Manga Classics and I especially love this version of Jane Eyre. This version makes it so easy to for all ages to connect to the classic novel. After reading this I want to go reread the novel. The manga translation brings new life to the story and makes you fall in love with it again.
