YES! I finally finished it! I've never felt so good about finishing a book.

This is the longest time I've ever taken to finish a book. I confess to classics not normally being within my radar. Had I not forced myself into a different experience, exiled myself out of my comfort zone, I imagined my reading of Jane Eyre be postponed to a much later period in life.

I'm glad having read Jane Eyre earlier than I initially intended (had I succumbed to my mood.) And I did enjoy it a lot despite reading difficulty here and there. I already plan to re-read it in the later future (when I'm much more fluent in English.) I imagined it will be another different experience.

But for now, don't mind me while I allow myself to be showered in the sense of my accomplishment.

I always forget how much passion Jane has. She's a wonderful character - I really love this book.

Just finished this book again. I loved it in College, I love it again now. Was worth the 2nd look at Eyre and Rochester. Still a wonderful story.

An enjoyable read, and though I look at some aspects of it and consider them dated, they still aged well. I didn't love this book as a new favorite, but I did like it.

I think I'm glad I read this now, as a grown adult instead of as a teenager. As I was comparing my thoughts to those of some of my friends on Goodreads, I saw comments about how the expectation of this book is that it's a love story... yet it is so much more. Yes, there is a love story. Yes, if you know anything about the love stories from this time period you can guess at most (if not all) of the plot twists. But, there is more depth to Jane's character than I had expected from this book, and I really appreciate that.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. It all depends on what part(s) of the book you're comfortable overlooking or outright ignoring, I suppose.

This story is a product of its time, but it takes step further into the realm of psychological abuse than its contemporaries. With that said, I think it's one of the most fucked up Victorian novels I'd ever read, and I don't say that lightly since I've also read her sisters' books along with Austen, Dickens, Hugo, Stevenson, etc etc.

Do you think it'd be extra of me to have numerous editions of the same book in my favorites list?

Yeah?

Reader, I'm doing it and will continue to do so.

Because Jane Eyre will always have my hand, my heart, and all of my possessions.

I could re-read this book for the rest of my life and still find contentment in it. In its progressive ideals and feministic values.

Jane Eyre is independent and tells. her. story. Which is so much more than her love for Mr. Rochester and every time readers consider this classic solely a "romance," I end up aching for Jane Eyre. Jane, who did not grow up into an empowered, strong minded, compassionate, talented, resilient, and properly educated young woman to be diminished into a simple forbidden love story. Mr. Rochester doesn't even exist for half of her tale and she makes it distinctly clear that marriage is not the only prospect for her in life.

Unlike with most other classics, where only one possible ending is imaginable for the protagonist, in Jane Eyre - we get a glimpse of several she might have lived. That to me, is what makes Jane Eyre so memorable, and the final decision she made all the more impactful.

She is by no means a perfect character, but she is, dear reader, a genuine one.

Personal Note: Up to four editions and the audio version.

This was super cute! I really liked the art style. If you were thinking about reading this before reading Jane eyre, I don’t recommend it. It’s more an added bonus than a manga that can stand by itself. I felt like it couldn’t go enough into detail (because of the format) for you to read this and it not feel like it’s jumping over huge periods of time. But if you’ve read Jane eyre, I think this is great!

I received this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

Whoever sees this as a romance is sorely mistaken.
