A Mark Millar book about Venom with art by Frank Cho just didn't sound like my idea of a good time. Particularly when it's roughly around the time of Extreme Ultimate I'm So Edgy Mark Millar was on his way to becoming unbearably Shitlord. But this story, about Eddie Brock selling the Venom Symbiote because he's dying of cancer, and wants the money to go to charity had a great premise and was, right up until the end, well-plotted and a fun read.

If you take into count that Millar's Shock Epilogue was immediately retconned, as he must have known it would be, you're left with not only a solid Spider-Man/Venom story but one that future creative teams can expand on without just repeating the same tired Venom arc.

This was good enough that, at some point, I'm going to have to sit down and read the full Millar Marvel Knights Spider-Man run. The Peter Parker story that envelopes the Venom arc looked very intriguing.

Oh I liked this more than I thought I was going to? There were just some beautiful panels when he was fighting Venom. And now I'm invested. I need to know what happened to Aunt May!
