At first I thought it was predictable to have the mom be the murderer, so it definitely caught me off guard with that second twist. I liked that it incorporated a lot of psychological influences behind the murders.

I genuinely hated this book I would not have read this if Sofia didn’t annotate it for me. Tbh her annotations were what got me through. I’m terrible at predictions but I guessed the plot so damn quick and the mediocre twist at the end was not enough to redeem this even a little bit. Reading this was so deeply unpleasant and I felt sick the whole time lol.

Read for the Read the States Challenge for: Missouri!

I'm not going to bother with a content warning list for this book because it's not worth your time or mine. If you struggle with reading about themes of suicide or self-harm, this is not the book for you.
Because it's such a quick read, I'm not really going to bother to break it down. But the writing is so, so damn good - honestly, just go read it!

I read this book in one day for a Read-a-Thon and it was absolutely worth my entire day. I tend to stay away from thrillers in general, but Gillian Flynn is an author I will continue to actively seek out. This is the second book I've read of hers and it's just as good.

Absolutely thrilling and nerve wrecking. I loved the writing style very blunt and I felt like it could express a lot of feelings in an honest way. It was definitely a twisted story with a lot of twisted characters and captured the small town character in a thrilling way. The end was in fact a bit rushed but I didn't mind, in fact I thought it a fitting ending that added to that distant story telling.

Really good read but the triggers are incredible. If you have a trigger, this book WILL activate it

ugh halfway through the book I figured the plot twist out. I hated how the bodies of the young girls were described and I really hate how well Flynn creates anti-hero characters.
