Spoiler alert- this book is actually TOTALLY FUN! This would do well as a read aloud in a library setting.

Very appealing cover, would make for a fun read-aloud book.

It's hard to do meta-textual picture books, but for me this one nailed it. A nerdy mouse is determined not to have fun or have anything exciting happen, but his plan is spoiled by a flying whale and some cronies.

Just total silliness. I can hear the giggles already.

This book will NOT be fun. Trust me, it won't. Nothing can make fun happen here. Not weird creatures, not colorful dance parties--NOTHING! Well... except for maybe... YOU!
Reminds me of the silly ways a loved one can get you to stop being grumpy! Also great to get kids who might think they prefer safe & quiet to try something new. (AND for the kids who get a kick out of storming up fun!)
A great read-together book.

My kids didn’t find the joy or humor in this book, we sort of just read it. They payed attention but didn’t engage in the story. So it was okay.

Not as whimsical as it aims to be, but my 5 year old has requested multiple readings so I could be wrong. It's no The Book With No Pictures if that's what you're hoping for.

April 2019 - not quite as funny as it wants to be, but Ben enjoyed it and I like the illustrations. Good for the kids looking for more picture books where the character talks directly to the reader.
