While I felt like the plot was lacking in the first half of the book and was a little confusing of a concept, I love Holly Black's writing and I really enjoyed the character of Charlie Hall (very reminiscent of Alex Stern who I also love). Excited for the second book.

Little world building, too much info dumping. But I did like the premise of the book and the morally grey characters.

This book had an interesting premise but unfortunately, the execution did not do it justice. The plot is an exercise in vanity, and there is far too much backstory and infodumps dispersed within the plot line — giving justification for that chapter. This resulted in a slow and boring read.
