Love Captain Underpants and glad to see Pilkey is back at work on this series. However, there's so much for adults that will leave kids behind in this one. They'll enjoy some of the same ol', same ol', but I know Pilkey can do better!

The images and the beloved Flip-O-Rama are wonderful, though!

Read the series in order and it does help explain things.

*I read an advanced copy from the publisher.

This book is genius! It’s got a cartoonishly complicated plot about an exploding planet (Smart Earth) that makes a gym teacher into an evil genius who wants to placate kids into being obedient pod people. There is time travel with character doubles (and triples) and the author pulls it off with dexterity. Along with that there’s some fun potty humor along with more sophisticated laughs—entertained me as much as my 8 year old nephew.

I laughed out loud at the stupid puns, I enjoyed the up-with-rowdy-children stance, I was touched by George and Harold's awesome futures and I was delighted by the one thing I'm not going to mention that is a landmark in children's literature. Dav Pilkey for president of the universe.

One extra star for the inclusion of Harold's adorable future husband!

Captain Underpants is one of the most coveted series at my school library, so I wanted to read more anyway, and when I found out this one was often challenged or even banned, I wanted to read it even more. I picked it up for a reading challenge at the public library too, so it checked off a lot of boxes for me personally! The humor in this series is incredible. Sometimes it's silly potty humor, of course, but there's much more. I'm honestly glad this series is so popular, and I hope that continues for quite some time.

What an awesome series. The adult humor, the funny chapter headings, the inappropriateness all make this series so funny. Great books to get kids reading.
