I enjoyed the first one more than the second volume, but having gotten bored of the endless pop culture references and lack of taking anything much seriously got old by that point and colored my opinion of the first volume retrospectively. Also the reviews on Amazon made it pretty clear to me again how they are censoring things. Of course I also know that for a fact because they have stopped letting me review anything and quoted at me the reason being one of the tamest negative reviews I’ve ever done.
Moderate: Gore and Violence

Just absolutely wonderful. I'm a big TAZ Balance fan and have listened to the postcast a few times—I've just been a little slow getting around to the comics. They do an amazing job of capturing the voice and the energy and the spirit, and the art is just incredible and so expressive. As with the podcast, there's a fair amount of silliness and action, but also just some really expressive and beautiful dramatic moments (pages 236 & 237...!) An enduring favourite.

I’ve been trying to listen to this podcast for ages and it just hasn’t happened. So I thought I’d try the graphic novel. And guys, it’s fantastic. I really love the art! The expressions are spot on! It’s gorgeous.

I’m so proud of the boys. This is such a much more polished version of the podcast and it works so nicely. They cut down on some fights so that the pacing feels like more of a story being told than the mechanics you use to tell the story. The travel montage was splendid and felt like a short scene straight out of a sitcom.
Carey Pietsch is such a perfect artist for this type of adventure. She fits the humor wonderfully and does a fantastic job of breathing life into the characters. You’ve seen them in your head and now they’re there on the page. If it isn’t how you imagined them it is either very close or it is now. From the outfits to the expressions to the gestures... it’s just lovely.
Reason to read this book: you have played DnD before, or have listened to anything by a McElroy and enjoyed it.
Best side character: G’Nash

I wouldn't have expected a DnD podcast turned into a graphic novel to be this good. Kudos on the adaptation. The art does an amazing job of bringing an already great auditory story to life.
