I'm so confused and I'm not invested enough in the story or characters to continue.
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group, Ballantine, and Del Rey for providing me with an eBook copy to review on NetGalley.

I am a fan of both authors, so I had high hopes for this book. However, it feels like Mieville and Reaves have pushed each other to create more of a high concept artwork than a readable novel. To be fair, the story is a novelization of a character from Keanu's graphic novels, so it is not too odd that each section of text reads like it is describing panel after panel of cool comic art. And because Mieville is a masterful writer, the prose is beautiful although often way over the top in form and choices of words. Somehow it just did not all come together for me. Not recommended.
A good expansion on the BRZRKR characters, and a gripping read.
Some reviews on here complain that it is hard to get into, but it is written by China Mieville, who always seems to start his books 4 chapters in, and then makes you play catchup, but the work is worth it! If you struggle, then reading the first BRZRKR book will help loads to set the scene.

I really enjoyed the slightly surreal mystery of this, and the alternating chapters with all kinds of perspective changes on the history of our mysterious main character were really interesting. The more mysteries were revealed the less I was into it—although I know it's a requirement to reveal some secrets, I kind of liked it better when most of everything was weird and inexplicable. I found some of the explanations less compelling than the experience. I enjoyed it most when it was all vibes!

It was hard to get into this book and the ending was very ambiguous and didn’t feel like it was a natural progression from the rest of the book. Overall an interesting set up but not executed to perfection. I also found the writing style and syntax confusing.
3.5 stars. If the whole acting thing doesn't end up working out, Keanu might have a future as an author.
This left me immediately wanting to reread other Miéville books.

DNF, and I TRIED! I tried the audiobook and the kindle version and I just cannot make myself care about it. The descriptions are too detailed for nothing, without anything happening very little actually happening. I can’t take it.
