DI Jackman, DS Marie Evans and their team are finally getting back to normality now that their nemesis is behind bars. Their new case starts with a concerned former police officer. She contacts her former colleague Robbie Merton as she and her husband are concerned about the recent disappearance of two urbexers - urban explorers - while they were exploring derelict buildings. They can find no connection between the two young men and their concern grows when a third urbexer disappears. The team are also reeling as their IT expert Orac Cracken is missing. Marie knows some of Orac’s history but they had no idea she had once been an intelligence field agent. When the bodies of the three urbexers are discovered it becomes clear that someone is targeting a group of young men and the team are under pressure to identify the killer.
This is the latest in the Jackman and Evans series and is another cracking read from Joy Ellis. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks to Joffe Books and Joy Ellis for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Somehow both unbelievable and overly dramatic and boring and predictable at the same time. I didn't care about the actual plot at all. This series keeps getting worse: the plots get more outlandish, the characters weirdly attached and overtly fond of their work mates, and the dialogue clumsier.
