I thought this got in with the other books well and kept me interested while advancing the plot. I definitely have lost track of all the specifics of this quest as they keep adding side quests that. Need to also happen. But, alas, I keep reading to find out.

**I did the tandem read with Tower of Dawn**
Perfection. This book focused on all the characters I like in the series on an emotional and exciting journey. I don’t think I can properly describe how I am feeling after reading this, but I went through the wringer. I would start the next one right now, but I actually have work tomorrow and unfortunately I do need to sleep

Tandem reading is long and annoying, but worth it if you prefer chronologically. Took forever though! Between the two books in this timeline, this is Aelin’s storyline.

I just finished this book a few seconds ago, and all I have to say is: Wow. That ending was intense.
Honestly, when I started this book I was a little skeptical because I had just finished ACOMAF, and I didn't think EoS would live up to those expectations. I'll have to admit, I'm still annoyed with the lack of diversity in this series, and everytime I see an extremely straight scene I skip it, but to be honest I did the same thing in ACOMAF (I'm not straight enough for those scenes. I'd rather see the characters developing with other relationships rather than the sex scenes). But I can forgive Maas because she does write really, really good action scenes, and I like how she develops her world and characters.
Aelin's persona that she puts on for her enemies does annoy me from time to time, but I loved how she grew in this novel. She's definitely learned to hone in her emotions, and to understand both sides of an argument. She's come to realize that she doesn't need to be angry to feel something, and that she doesn't need to always show off her power to escape from situations. Throughout this book, it pays off to be diplomatic to prove people wrong at the expanse of her pride.
Aelin was fantastic in this novel, and I'm genuinely still shook from that ending. Everything about it was intense, and I didn't guess any of it. I am really worried for what's going to happen to our crew in the final book, though.
My favorite characters by far were Manon and Elide. Just to see them survive after every bad situation, and to see how their characters are developing was amazing. My favorite part is how easily Elide fell in with the Ironteeth witches
I've come to appreciate Dorian's character (finally!), because throughout all four novels I honestly didn't see Dorian as a well-developed character. It seemed like he was very superficial, that there was nothing beyond him a "good" guy. This book definitely changed my perspective of him, especially as Rown and him got closer, which was my favorite "new" relationship developed in this book. Is it bad that as much as I hate what Maas did to Chaol's character, I didn't miss him at all? I do wish that his character was treated so much better, because he could have been so helpful in this book. And I can't believe that he wasn't even mentioned except by Dorian. At least we have the novella coming out, which I hope we get a glimpse of what's to come.
I think the worst part about this is that I have to wait until 2018 for the next book.

How is Ronan going to handle being king? How is Aelin going to survive in Maeve's clutches? I can't wait to see the scenes of Dorian traveling with the Thirteen. That's going to be hysterical.
