Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Delightful! I really enjoy Hibbert’s easy, charming, witty prose and how she captures the feeling of a developing crush. It took me a second to get into this one, but by the time the MCs strike up some banter in the emails they trade I was pretty well in the tank for it! Glad to have been in Chloe’s shoes for a time, including her experiences with chronic pain/illness. Thrilled to see that representation in a full, confident, growing woman MC. Might have enjoyed Eve Brown’s story a bit more, likely bc the portrayal of neurodiversity resonated with me personally, but it’s totally fine to read the series out of order.

I really liked how the characters were both adoring and amorous! The smutty bits were fun! Hibbert does a great job of choreographing hot, real scenes focused on women’s pleasure that don’t use cringey language that makes you want to crawl out of your skin midway through.

I initially found the audiobook narrator choice a little odd since her default narration felt like a better fit for Gigi (or Lady Danbury) than the voice she created for Chloe. But it grew on me a lot and was worth it for how swoony and specific she made Red’s dialogue.

this book holds SUCH a special place in my heart as a chronically ill girly.
she has fibromyalgia, and so do i. i related to her so much, and i NEED more books that represent me in the way this one did.
chloe was "cold" and "rude" at first, and the way that it shows her true character - the way red works to understand her - is so special to me.
i also loved how much emphasis was on accommodating to her and her needs, and how it wasnt a hassle or an obligation for him. it was something he WANTED to do.
the found family aspect is amazing and i love the sisters soso much.

highly recommend for anyone who deals with chronic illness or anyone who wants to understand what its like to live with one.

Loved this book, but not a 5 star due to the good old
miscommunication trope
.
Would recommend, and I'll definitely continue this series!

I don’t have fibromyalgia, but I’ve got chronic pain. I’ve experienced many of the same emotions as Chloe and my husband has expressed many similar sentiments as Red. We are not like them, but to see care and love like ours on the proverbial page was sweet and reassuring.
Adjoa Andoh was an INCREDIBLE narrator. Her use of pacing and dynamics was excellent and immersive and exciting. I’m bummed she didn’t do the rest of the series, but I did put her Pride and Prejudice reading on my TBR. Truly amazing and inspiring work on her part.
