This is one of those books that never had a slow or bad moment for me. It wasn't action packed the whole time, but it was really great throughout. I can't wait to go to Savannah now!

Okay book. Not sure why it was so highly rated.

This was a book club pick that I wasn't thrilled about, and once I found out I couldn't go to the meeting this time, I said meh fuck it lol I did buy it though so maybe one day my mood reader ass will feel like it 🤷‍♀️

I went into this book completely blind, so when I found out more than halfway through the read, it was a true story, I was floored. It's definitely a product of its time, representing a lot of the queerphobia (both intentionally and otherwise) and wild racism (very intentionally) that was rampant in the years it was written. The story itself reflects not just the true crime telling of the murder it speaks of, but the sense of a small town and its insular nature.

It's an oddball read that's memorable and reflects plainly how truth is often stranger than fiction.
