This is truly my favorite book I’ve read in so long. Looking at a span of time that Seán Hewitt was in love with an ex, Elias, and what came of their relationship, ALL DOWN DARKNESS WIDE manages to hold so much in such delicate strokes of language. Hewitt is a force of alliteration and metaphor, and I’ve never quite read a memoir that made me feel this way. Haunting and healing and dark, we go through identity crises, mental health crises, the weight of relationships, and how all these things coincide. This is truly a masterclass in memoir.
Moderate: Suicide attempt
