Good conclusion. Unhurried realizations. Excellent use of transition of language.

A beautiful, nuanced historical fiction that I look forward to sharing with my children.

I really loved this book. It was super neat seeing an older Isabel and Curzon, and how they are starting to really understand the weight of both the British and the Americans.

And... the ending. So perfect.

I adored this series. Laurie halse anderson is my go to historical fiction writer and is actually the author that got me into historical fiction. I love how this book ended with the way the series started. I loved the love between ruth and and isabel, heck I loved all the loves all the characters. Read this series if you are looking for a good historical fiction set during the revolutionary war with amazing characters.

I seriously love this trilogy. I read it over the course of 3 years and I am so glad I kept reading to finish Ashes. I love Isabel and Curzon and Ruth and even Aberdeen. This book is so interesting because it gives insight into the lives of escaped slaves during the Revolution who had no motivation to fight for either side, because neither side was fighting for their freedom. I loved this book, and I got so excited when Alexander Hamilton led Curzon's regiment to help defeat the British. I took off half a star for some dragging parts at the beginning, however overall I am very impressed with this conclusion to the series.

This series was just amazing. It informed me of a dark time in American history that not everyone is aware of or care about it. We need to raise awareness for this dark time in history so please read this book.

whooo for being done with this series (waited like 6 years for the last book)

anderson is, as always, an excellent writer, but the plot is not the most interesting

Third in the Seeds of America trilogy. This book was my least favorite, but still a lovely read. The plot seemed more clumsy this go round and I began to dislike Isabel more and more as the book continued. However, I do believe in the concept of this trilogy. Diverse novels, for young adults, historical fiction, about things we never talk about.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and highly recommend them to all. In this last book, Isabel and Curzon are trying to find Ruth (Isabel's sister) who was sold to another owner. It is in the middle of the American Revolutionary War. Isabel hates both sides because neither has promised true freedom for her people. The book follows their journey as she has to decide what she is willing to fight for. I love the historical aspects I learned and I loved seeing from another's perspective. It is heart wrenching to think about the families that were torn apart because of slavery and war. Great writing and a great character, full of strengths and weaknesses. Historical fiction fans would enjoy this series. 6th grade and up.
