ERIC YOU TRICKED MEEEEE. "Sci-fi" actually pseudo-medieval kingom/church/court drama and war story. Enjoyable and entertaining though! With a corny as hell main character that's luckly all humans who know them are dead cuz they're the dorkiest larper. Also uses the hackney Good Kingdom™ with such a Good King™ trope, classic sci-fi [deragatory].

the premise is fascinating and you feel like grayson could have totally gone this way. But while I'm fascinated by the strategies Nimue employs (talk about powermapping!) I'm not that invested in her

The beginning of a good story-arch, but there's a whole lot of superfluous exposition in there. I'll give volume 2 in the series a try, but I hope it will be a bit tighter.

Good overall. Need to be interested in detailed naval strategy and tactics.

Super cool premise but boring execution. When the names of every character started only having consonants and no vowels, I gave up.

A fascinating idea for a series which promises to be very interesting.

Boring

The world-building in this book is some of the best I've ever read. Add believable characters and realistic science for an excellent book. Already picked up the next one.
