I had no idea what I was missing out on before I started reading these books. All I can say is WOW! It was so well written, I felt like I was watching movie. I hope they do make a movie out of this because I really want to see the creature the way Lincoln Child imagined it. That'd be awesome.
It was a little disconcerting to suddenly get all that information about Jeremy Logan after all the mystery that surrounded him in the previous book. I didn't expect it at all, but that doesn't mean I think that's a bad thing. There's still a lot unknown about him and I'm hoping the next couple books show more.
There was a lot of similarities in terms of character personalities. There was an ex-military as the main protagonist working in a research based job. There were those supporting characters that just follow the main guy. There was an imposing high ranking military man whose goal is initially to protect state secrets, but later tries to save everyone. Then there are the bad guys. Most prominent was the hungry-for-more man. The selfish, narrow-minded guy who didn't care about anything other than boosting himself up in the world. In the previous book, it was the Corporal and in this, it was the director. I noticed how Child killed them both in book. Good job! The only character that remained unchanged was of course, Jeremy Logan.
I thought it was a great book. I love the wave of emotions Child takes us through while reading the book, its almost like a rush. I think a book is good when I can actually kind of feel myself in the book, I see things, hear things, feel things, go through the same emotions. It's exhilarating.

Decent thriller, but nothing compared to the Pendergast novels. Interesting and an easy read.
It was an interesting read and a start for the Jeremy Logan character, although he was quite peripheral here. The later books in the series are better, I think.

A very satisfying procedural thriller novel. I am becoming a real LC fan.
Fun adventure with a prehistoric horror
In perfect Child fashion, the adventure book is a great escape for summer break. Suspenseful, but a little bit predictable.
