It’s the one I like the least, but I still like it so much!! Feels like my childhood all over again watching the movies with my big sister!!

Honestly this one is for the most part better than the first in terms of holding interest. I loved hanging out with Jacob's friends and learning about that part of it so much more than the various lovers quarrel of the first one, and the end of this one.
HOWEVER that being said um why do we never again address the fact that Bella probably should have been put into some kind of mental facility? For christ sakes she was catatonic then acted like someone had died. When she had been dumped. And it was justified because she was mourning a future she didn't get to have? What?? Any break up is the end of that particular future like I get it's your first break up honey but you can't expect Edward to take you seriously about being so ready to give up your life literally forever when you act like this for 8 MONTHS after a breakup. Like it honestly makes me wonder if she had some sort of mental disorder that just gets brushed over? Abandonment or parentification gone wrong or something from having to care for Rene? She was pleading with him not to leave in the first one. And in this one. I'm just not sure where the maturity she's supposed to have really is if it all depends on if Edward is there to love her.
Her parents, bless them, needed to grow some damn balls and get her professional help.
That being said, oh man did I feel bad for Charlie here. A heartbroken, stoic man trying to figure out how to best care for his newly adulted daughter when he knew if he pushed too hard she would leave. AS SHE THREATENED TO DO RUDE LITTLE BITCH. He was trying so hard to get her back to herself but couldn't. And I'm already a ways into Eclipse again and she does the same thing but worse. Does she truly have no idea how this must look to her father? The fear he must have for if he did this to her again? The obvious control he has over her? And she uses the threat of leaving as a way to get him to back off when he brings up his concerns. Clearly much maturity here I have no idea why Edward would want her to grow up a bit.
This book just made me hate Bella honestly that's the conclusion I've come to. She's a dick to her dad, doesn't think she needs to get professional help for PTSD dreams, depression, and hallucinations but thinks she's being so adult, she spends the whole time she reunites with Edward being a dumbass not realizing that he obviously left to protect her (um hullo...? What...? Laying it on thick...) and also then there's the fact she's been using Jacob basically since they met but he doesn't complain so I guess that's ok?
Anyway. I guess this was as expected.

Definitely weaker than Twilight, though I did enjoy the development of the Jacob character. It all felt a bit contrived though since we all knew that Edward was going to come back. Also it was very clear that if Bella did choose Jacob it would be settling and that just isn't fair to anyone. There was almost nothing to root for in the book except for the end when Edward would inevitably come back.

Not as good as the first...much more predictable and obvious I thought, but I didn't dislike it or anything. I'm still intrigued enough that I want to see where the whole thing is headed.

This book managed to be better than the first, but I still don't think it's fair to review it higher than 2 stars because it was still just...blargh. Bleck. *mimes throwing up*

Welcome back to Forks, Washington, a place where it actually stops raining occasionally in this book and where the characters are so self-aware of the fact that they're in a paranormal romance that they frequently stop to question what about their town attracts so many paranormal monsters. This time, Bella has FRIENDS--oh wait they don't actually like her or her boyfriend, but we'll never find out why they're sitting with her. She has a DAD--who still gets maybe two pages of screen time, and it's all as the overbearing dad, not the epic police chief and vampire hunter he could be. She has a TRUCK--still the best character, with the most personality (mostly because Bella repeatedly tells us how much personality her truck has). And she has--NOT a boyfriend.

That's right--this time Edward is gone, living in South America or something, and Bella is DEEPLY SAD. To demonstrate her sadness...wait for it...she'll decide it's time to snap out of her depression, and BUYS MOTORCYCLES.

*record screeches*

Dude, I don't even know what happened in this book. I read it in about two hours and I still don't know what was going on, except that Edward was going to get executed for being glittery after HE dumped his own girlfriend and that Bella alternates between hating mechanics and loving cars. Also there are werewolves. They're teenagers. They kill a bunch of people, but don't worry, those were probably all vampires. Hopefully. Even though they attack a bunch of hikers and only one was proven to be a vampire.

Why just why

Anyway

Starring:
-BELLA WHO IS NO LONGER /THAT/ CLUTZY except when it's relevant to the plot (I wish!)
-Edspresso Depresso
-The Alice who Cried Wolf
-Jacob-Jake-Jakey
-SAAAAAM-I-AM
-Some motorcycles
-Cliff diving
-and ZOMBIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEES

*in Bella's voice* What was truly terrifying was when they showed the action movie heroine being pursued by a zombie, and the moment I realized which I resembled more.
