Wat een naar boek zeg. Character development is schijt en de beschrijving zijn alleen goed als Peter doodgaat. Eerste helft was nog een beetje leuk maar de tweede niet echt meer.

While I do like a decent bike ride, I'll admit to not understanding some people's (often male) obsessions with cycling. This Dutch novel about 6 friends, 5 boys and 1 girl, is bookended by two epic rides up steep Mount Ventoux in Provence - one as 18 year olds and one thirty years later. While it's a story about cycling (my understanding has been enhanced), it's also a story about enduring friendship in spite of serious missteps. The English translation will be published in May 2019.

Een beetje een voor de hand liggende ontknoping, dat vanzelfsprekend ook al elders werd gelezen. Wagendorp heeft niettemin en vakkundig geschreven roman afgeleverd.

It's a good and well written book. However the beginning is a bit slow and boring but later on it get's more fun. There are also some plot twists that I didn't see coming so I really liked that.
