Est unus ex nobis. Nos defendat eius.
She is one of us. We protect her.

Okay, Jameson and Avery might have won me over by the end but Gray is still my favorite. Fun fast paced plot and I loved the Toby mystery and
toby and Avery’s moments when he told her she felt like his daughter

“Heads, I kiss you. Tails, you kiss me. And either way, it means something.”

“Picture yourself standing on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The wind is whipping your hair. The sun is setting. You long, body and soul, for one thing. One person. You hear footsteps behind you. You turn. Who's there? I remembered a voice. Jameson Winchester Hawthorne.”

“Your silence on the issue of people trying to kill you is deeply disturbing.”

I read this book in two sittings and I am seriously in love with the writing style, the type of storytelling it is, as well as all the flaws of each and every character that only makes them feel more real. This book took many twist and turns and I was quite surprised about how things unfolded.
I cannot wait to get on with the last book!

I'm definitely above the age range this is targeted to but I'm enjoying the fun romp and the Knives Out vibes, which were why I originally picked up the series. I could *really* do without the love triangle because the story is interesting enough without the painful "who will she end up with". I'm much more interested in the family dynamic and the overall puzzle. I loved how much more of the backstory we learned about in this book and I can't believe I'm going to be waiting for a year to find out what happens next.
