Okay. I don't like Avery. She's a throwback to the girls that thought they had to be in everyones business, that everyone fell in love with - and couldn't seem to have any insight in their own behaviour? Avery thinks she knows the Hawthorne guys just because she has lived with them for a short while. Sometimes she even claims she knows them better than people who have known them all their lives. Who do you think you are, Avery??

And OF COURSE two of the boys fall in love with her. They are going to protect her, because they are one of them. Is she, really? And why do you have to say it in LATIN? I can't.

The book is rescued by the last 30%, where things happen and clues lead to ACTUAL ANSWERS. I liked the plot - but the writing tended to be cringy, which made me feel like I was reading something published in 2012. BUT I have to give it four stars, since the plot is actually pretty good, and the last 30% kept me really engaged.

Ugh, do I have to read the third one now?

Ugh I hate love triangles, just have them both ffs. Everything lowkey got real confusing towards the end but I mostly followed. I’m scared for a big betrayal in the next one, but nothing really shocked me in this book, almost I guess.

this series is so fun and stressful at the same time. the character development is good, in the first book i felt like i could not trust anyone and that everyone was using avery. now it feels like you can finally open up towards these characters and like they finally are starting to see avery as one of their own. avery’s arc that was starting at the end is what i’m most excited for; where she realizes her worth. the romance was not a reason for me reading but i will admit this is one of the only love triangles i could tolerate.

this was alright, it didn’t wow me. The writing was a bit juvenile but it’s a young adult book so I don’t expect much in that regard. The plot felt like it was going nowhere at some points because there was so much happening all at once.
