This book is a great place to start as a young person entering the market place. Although there are definitely some areas where the advice fell short, or the chapter could have been condensed into a blog post, the practical exercises will be highly beneficial as a reference point for exploring your identity.

The book reads like a conversation between your tough love friend and your self love friend, and it’s incredibly quick and easy to read. Still, Beverly recognises her own privilege as a privately educated, Oxford alumni, and white woman and so her journey can be quite in relatable at times.

Ultimately, no single self development book is going to solve all your problems, but if you don’t know where to start as a young person trying to find their way into the workforce, this is a good place to start

Admittedly, the book isn’t in the writing style I would typically go for but it does make for a conversational, easy read; perhaps more blog-style than traditional novel. The overarching ideas presented within the book can be quite repetitive, circular, and at times ‘empty’ - for lack of a better word - in its arguments. Nevertheless, I did find the chapter on The Productivity Method extremely helpful in implementing a new way to prioritise and tackle my many to-dos. By using the To-Do Table, prioritisation, and time-blocking, I do feel like I’ve transformed my daily productivity and reduced my overall anxiety and overwhelm; my only concern is the sustainability of this method long-term. Ultimately, I would recommend this to anyone needing an easy, quick, efficient way to overhaul your planning abilities and improve your capacity to get stuff done! I also found the prompts in the first part of the book to be really good thought-provoking exercised to reevaluate priorities..

A very quick and interesting read. I loved Grace’s humour and writing style, it felt like a loving, at times tough love pep talk with a close friend over dinner.

I found myself writing loads of notes in a diary alongside reading and feel super motivated to implement her advice into my working life.

At times I felt it was repetitive and didn’t always actually offer more to the conversation and could have had more advice/ activities/ things to think about or do. I also feel I wasn’t the entirely right demographic as I’m just working as a waitress posh grad so didnt relate to all of the talk about business life or office politics but overall found it a very good guide to looking deeper at how to activity improve your life/ self worth/ mind set and enjoy working life.

Would recommend !!
