An advice book done right. Full of thought provoking suggestions and reasonable hypotheses on how humans can find better balance.
My second ‘January book’. Like all such tomes it’s a long essay (or handful of blog posts) padded out to book length. The authors have some handy insights and tactics and Jake Knapp’s illustrations add charm.
Hope I’m sufficiently improved not to read another for a while though...

First up, if you're on the fence about reading this book you should check out [b:Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones|40121378|Atomic Habits An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones|James Clear|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1535115320l/40121378._SY75_.jpg|62221762] instead. Atomic Habits covers a similar topic but executes it better.
This book is written by two people who are so far removed from the reality of day-to-day life that they needed to share how they uninstalled applications from their phones and prioritized things like family and hobbies.
Rather than being a useful self-help book, this is a reflection of an industry that prioritizes hard work and hustle over anything else. It's a solution to a problem that only exists because industries are manipulating people.
The summary is this: put your phone down, stop working so hard, and look for joy in things that are not work.
