I love Alex Stern so much! This book was not at all what I thought it would be and by the end felt completely different than the first book. Overall, this book felt more fantasy than mystery, however, I loved it nonetheless.

I love love love LOVE the Alex Stern series! The dark descriptions of the New Haven setting, the use of the arcane, and the secrecy of the societies. Best of all I adored the relationships between all the characters. I feel like we really got to see all of the friendships established in Ninth House grow and develop. I, despite not loving slow burns, loved the relationship between Darlington and Alex. Are they friends, lovers, or demonic soulmates? All of the above? It doesn't matter because at the end of the day, it's a relationship betweeen two hunger-driven survivors who are just trying their best. Pammie Dawes  and Tripp also stole my heart. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

What, oh what could a demon offer you for your future, for your damnation. What would be worth your soul, anothers, or the suffering of others to be fed and damned by your hand.

I didn't like Hell Bent when I first started reading it. However, as the story progressed, I became more and more immersed in the world.
Hell Bent gives us a lot of background information on some of the key characters on their journey to save Darlington from hell. I love the found family trope in this book, especially the relationship that continued to develop between Dawes and Alex. Also, Bardugo made Alex’s roommates more relevant in the story, which was needed.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the introduction of
vampires
in this world; however, as I continued reading, they made much more sense to the point where I felt like they were necessary to the story.
Also, I appreciate the magic system in these books, in general, because magic comes at a price.
I wish Darlington were more present in Hell Bent, but I understand why Bardugo had to make him scarce.
Overall, highly recommend it if you liked Ninth House!
