I'm full of acacias swaying yellow, and I who have barely started my journey, I start it with a sense of tragedy, guessing toward which lost ocean my steps of life are leading.
people said the clarice lispector reading experience is like being in a dream. this book, however, made me feel like i was accessing someone else's memory – with the way she described time and place, atmosphere and feeling.
it's philosophical nature made me float into a tangent of what ifs? and how abouts? but the conversational style (addressing "you" and "i") grounded me to remind the essence of those questions: about how i feel about life, and how i can treat life as it is. i can just be.
"Não quero ter a terrível limitação de quem vive apenas do que é possível de fazer sentido."
This is a kaleidoscopic book - a stream of consciousness like I've never encountered before. It is hard to follow, it is something to be seen, touched, felt... not understood. It is radical.
This book has no linear history or central theme, no begining and no end. The only thing we know is that the narrator is a painter. Clarice questions life, feelings, words, her being. The zig-zag of her mind is entrancing!
It is a masterpiece and something to be read and read again. It is timeless! Pure Clarice! <3

The blurb on my copy of this book says that the book 'has exercised a powerful influence on Brazil's greatest artists: one musician read it one hundred and eleven times.'
I don't know if I'll read it that many times, but it certainly isn't the kind of work one reads once.
A modernist classic.

exquisite writing, but I might need to reread it or let time tell how impactful it will, since there's no real plot, characters, or anything to hang onto it. It's everything and nothing all at once (I tabbed so much though like it feels wrong to rate it anything but high)

beautiful writing, probably the most beautiful sentences I've ever read, but it's just not for me
