this book made me so much more excited to age and grow and learn. Lispector’s work carries with it a certain gracefulness that I find difficult to articulate yet is absolutely papable when reading. She speaks to a unique feeling of feminine rage and spirituality that I believe i’ll be able to appreciate even more as I grow older.

It's the holiday season, y'all. If you find yourself desperately wanting to re-read Nietzsche's The Gay Science for that annual dose of joyous wisdom, but you're short on precious time, consider sinking your fangs into this juicy offering by Clarice Lispector instead.
"As a matter of fact I don’t want to die. I rebel against “God.” Let’s not die as a dare?
I’m not going to die, you hear, God? I don’t have the courage, you hear? Don’t kill me, you hear? Because it’s a disgrace to be born in order to die without knowing when or where. I’m going to stay very happy, you hear? As a reply, as an insult. I guarantee one thing: we are not guilty. And I have to understand while I’m alive, you hear? because afterwards it will be too late."

Agua viva disuelve el mensaje y significado, en una narrativa como un trance y no emocional, ambiguo, desconectado y anti catártico.

A complicated and difficult book. Beautifully translated, it weaves from topic to topic in a way that is disorienting and at times frustrating. Yet somehow, as I read the last few pages, I felt profoundly touched. I’ll have to sit with it more to make better sense of it.
Not an easy read, and maybe not for every reader. Took my three tries over the last two years. Sometimes you need a book at a specific moment in your life.

It’s with such profound happiness. Such a hallelujah. Hallelujah, I shout, hallelujah merging with the darkest human howl of the pain of separation but a shout of diabolic joy. Because no one can hold me back.
I've not read anything like this as of yet. Like a surreal De Profundis (I haven't read, so take that with a grain of salt). This would be incredibly pretentious if Lispector wasn't so sincere. She writes with so much urgency that you begin to believe in the significance of her shapeless, diaphanous, and vaguely philosophical pa-importante messaging. Her writing is beautiful and lyrical in its brusqueness. I did enjoy the unique reading experience this gave me. She addresses the reader directly and makes us feel her hyperawareness of time passing but alerting us to the extreme temporality of A Moment. This gives the book an almost living quality, as if it's being written as we read (sort of like a livestream). I do feel like there are some parts that weaken the spiraling quality of this, such a when she begins to just list flowers and their meanings, but I appreciate the smorgasbord nature this lends. I did not love this in the warmhearted way I love my favorite books, but I can't stop thinking about it.

I wish I’m smarter to really digest what I have just read but still it was written like a poetry, I might not get everything but I was moved.
