Disgusting but the writing was beautiful. Hated the topic and content throughout but found it grossly engaging.

3.5 stars I guess. Def perverse and memorable but also never convincing as actual reality, nor is there any true emotion or arc to it (the conclusion as such just occurs suddenly ) Some good writing but really not my thing a little too unrelentingly bleak but seeming to wallow in cruelty and the grotesque and little else.

This was the strangest book I have ever read in my life. I will never be the same.

**update** The end was jarring for me, but all through the book I loved these characters - how they changed, how they were conflicted. Well written and I'd recommend it.

I'm really enjoying this story of a side-show family and their carnival. Told in the first-person, from the runt of the litter's perspective - so far poignant and painful, it is telling the story of how everyone feels like a freak.

This was an unusual read, and not the easiest to get into. Neat concept, though.
