This is it. The defining moment of the series that sets Invincible apart from the rest. Kirkman amps up his writing chops for this volume and what was once a stereotypical teen superhero drama really starts to come into its' own. Ryan Ottley joins in this volume as the new artist adding to the overall tone and style to the story. Volume 1 & 2 were a slog to get through but getting to Volume 3 is worth the journey. If you're a fan of the superhero genre, you will not regret Invincible.

i just don’t know what to say. this is so brutal and just heart wrenching in a way that i haven’t experienced with a graphic novel/comic series before. the violence is so outlandish but beautifully done. you can’t help but sympathize with mark and his mom. god, i just am at a loss.

This really turned around and hit me in the jugular, big oof owtchies this volume. Slighly unexpected because I’ve somehow managed to avoid spoilers for this series even with the show out.

“We were unstoppable.”

Omni-Man’s truth has been revealed and, surprisingly to no one, Mark had a lot to say about it. Their discussion was so perfectly emotional, with the climax just the best type of painful. Glad to have stuck it out to see this turn of events!

I think this is a really extreme version of what it’s like to grow up and realize your parents aren’t the idealized form you had in your head. Only, instead of them being like… assholes sometimes, they’re a horrible multi-criminal of extreme proportions. And that doesn’t even include the whole aging thing.

I find myself mostly feeling bad for Debbie. She deserves the world and has been through a ridiculous amount of stuff this volume. I’m glad that Mark is so strongly in her corner.

This makes me very excited to see what comes next! Because dang this was intense!!!
