I shared this book with all my brothers and they liked it just as much as I did. Super interesting and the graphics look just like I pictured them when i read the original!

It's a pretty interesting idea, Bruce Wayne before becoming Batman. But it's only the first chapter. I would definitely love to find the find the rest of the story though

I am not a huge Batman fan. When I read Batman, I read him for Catwoman, the Huntress, Batwoman, or Batgirl. I say this because if this hadn’t been free, I would not have read it.

I can’t tell if it is a good adaptation of the novel or not, but since the creators are the same, I suppose it is. I like the idea of Nightwalkers and how they tie into Batman himself, but I found the story to be meh.

I enjoyed the novel when I read it and honestly thought the artwork really added something great to it. Enjoyed it a lot. One of my faves of the DC Icons series.

First of all, I have to admit, I know practically nothing about Batman, so this is my first introduction into this narrative. However, I love Marie Lu and comics so I was still super excited to get an advanced copy.
I have to say, for someone who loves Marvel and hasn't given Batman a chance, this truly blew my mind. I am fully invested in this story and absolutely loved it. Batman always felt like an adult, so starting at a younger age really had me feel more connected.
Not to mention, the plot and art were absolutely phenomenal and I was constantly flipping the digital pages. With just a couple hundred pages, I am now fully invested in all the characters and their future so you can bet I'll be waiting for more!

This was amazing! A fresh new take on Bruce and not a Batman origin story.

If you’re going to view this Bruce as anything other than a reimagining then you might be disappointed, but if you walk into this with a blank slate you’ll be thoroughly surprised.

The characterisations here were great. The chemistry between Madeleine and Bruce, Bruce and Alfred, Bruce and Dianne, Bruce and Richard, etc were very well done.

The art was, of course, wonderfully done. The colours really brought the story to life.

I have to say, I wish it hadn’t been so short. Perhaps the book went even more into detail, but I feel like there could’ve been even more depth and the graphic novel would’ve been better for it. I’m eager for a sequel; the plot at the end was definitely left open for it.

Even though it's unrealistic that the police would force a high-schooler to volunteer at an asylum, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. So much fun! You have to second-guess every lie and the truth.

This is a review of an uncorrected proof.

A cadre of murderous anarchists are targeting the wealthiest elite of Gotham City. Equipped with night vision goggles they break into the homes of the 1%, extort millions from them, and then cut their throats. Until one of their intended victims, eighteen-year-old Bruce Wayne, seizes an opportunity to halt their reign of terror and mayhem.

Moore and Wildgoose return Lu’s 2018 novel to the form in which Bruce Wayne’s detective work first appeared, but this version is in a darker shade. The Batman’s first appearance in Detective Comics in 1939 was in full color. In contrast this tale is illustrated in black, white and shades of gray with the exception of occasional splashes of yellow. It introduces Wayne as an amateur high school detective doing community service for reckless driving in the asylum for the criminally insane. He has yet to don the cape and cowl of his alter ego. In Arkham Asylum he encounters Madeleine Wallace, a captured member of the Nightstalker gang. In a way she prefigures the character Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Madeleine has a crush on Bruce which he is happy to reciprocate, blurring the division between the proto-superhero with that of a proto-supervillain.
