Imaginative story with potential to be really good, but the execution is off. The plot is interesting enough, but there are a lot of problems with the prose, which manages to be at once riddled with cliches and full of examples of an author trying too hard to come up with original metaphors. Scott also doesn't seem to know how to integrate back story with the rest of the plot (or at least, make it so the transition to back story isn't really clunky), and the dialogue is often just not very good. I like it enough to read the next book, so we'll see if there's any improvement.

i had a hard time with this one. parts i felt went by slowly and others it was wham and its done and im completely lost. i kept having to back track. i think this series just isnt for me.
It was okay. I had overly high expectations for this book. It was entertaining and clean, but a little hard to follow. I probably won't be reading this book again any time soon. :/
Taking this one back to the library about 1/4 of the way thru ... just couldn't get into it like I could Harry Potter or The Bartimaeus Trilogy. I think it would be a great read for younger teens, tho.
Aargh. This is one of those series books that is like a soap opera. The story flows from one book into the other. I want my story to have a satisfying conclusion even if there are more books.

One of my favorites, couldn't put the book down, wanted to scream at some of the characters "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" unpredictible, has a mix of many different mythologies, it made me imagine the characters and their actions, and everything so vividly, which i loved, some downpoints, like it kept mentioning stuff that had already been mentioned about 50 million times before; that was a tad annoying, but overall a great read

Great read! I liked it a lot though I felt sometimes the timeline was confusing. Or to know whose perspective you are reading through.
I do like that you get to know each character and how they feel about things instead of it being from only the twins perspective. It gives more meaning to those characters.
The timeline is very fast paced and they move through a lot of different places so it’s a little hard to keep track of but Michael Scott does a good job of reminding us just how fast everything is happening
I’m so happy that the twins seem like they’ll be working together and not turning on one another. I hope it stays that way!

A fun young adult book that moves at a good pace, has a great blend of fiction and fact with historical figures and events.
