Good writing. Good story. I like all of the historical myths, legends, and events that are tied into it. Really cool concept. Josh however is really annoying and him like debating joining Dee is crazy. Like it took no time for him to question them and debate dipping on his sister. And him being so concerned ab her having diff experiences is crazy. He does not know how to be his own person and needs to work on that.
It was meh.
Probably because our two main characters were so freaking boring. They were the unseasoned chicken of protagonists. The only really good thing I could say about them is since they're brother and sister there was no suffering of a romance. At least in this installment.
I think the true trouble here is the trouble I find with a lot of books that contain characters that are immortal or long lived. It's that the author's cant seem to help themselves with taking liberties with historical figures or inserting their characters into legends. Even the villains. Like he can't just have been a spy ages ago. He has to be the one who originally used the code name 007. He can't just have a cool sword he has to have Excalibur. It feels like a poor substitution for developing and writing an engaging character.
That and it feels like I couldn't be creative on my own so let me just borrow a bunch of better written things and apply it to my narrative.
That said it wasn't terrible it just wasn't very engaging. Everything about it felt extremely flat. Pernelle was the only interesting character in the book and we didn't really get to spend much time with her at all. Instead we got stuck with the boring twin teenagers who feel like they were written by someone who was never a teenager and never interacted with teenagers in their life.

The first half is hard to get into for me.
But as delve more into the story I did somewhat pulled me in.
I did enjoy reading this one.
