Read The Rhinoceros as part of a playwriting exercise. Clearly very political and well-constructed — I won't blame Ionesco for that — but I can't say that it drew me in as much as I was hoping it would. I'm not a hundred percent sure that absurdist theatre is for me. I always find that I respond to it much more viscerally on the stage than the page. But I'm not giving up on Ionesco yet.
