ah, the nostalgia. Even those these are legends and stories told in their simplest forms, I will always love them. And the art! If I had kids, I would pass these down.

The books get better as they progress. More Tales to Chill Your Bones Is the best of the trio. I love the notes and context Schwartz provides!

This was a fun listen with my son to get us both into the Halloween spirit. A third of the stories are fairly creepy and memorable, another third are merely okay and the last third are silly and kind of dumb; my son had a lot of unfavorable comments about the ones in the final category, but was genuinely scared by a couple of the creepier inclusions. I appreciated the insertion of notes at the end of each book that go into detail about origins and variations of the tales, and Oswalt, McBride and Brightman all do a great job of narrating the stories.
