Just a heads up, this is a dark book. It’s not the cheeky funny book you’re probably expecting if you’ve seen the show. Dexter is a legit serial killer and a very bad person.

It was very interesting to read the books to the tv show. The book was amazing. Very different from the tv show in an amazing way. They add so much into the show. I cannot wait to pick up dearly devoted dexter and see how it pans out.

He frequently refers to himself as the Dark Passenger and it reminds me too much of "my inner goddess" from 50 shades of grey. Much better as a TV show. Found myself skimming paragraphs. Not well written and the author makes up phrases but then throws in a 5 star word. No thanks.

Nothing spectacular but an easy listen. From what I can remember it was super close to the first season! Felt quite nostalgic

I watched the first two episodes in the series before stopping to listen to the book on audio. I really enjoyed the plot (a serial killer who only kills "bad" people) and his involvement with the Miami PD as a blood spatter expert for the forensics team. His sister, Debra, is a tour de force with her dreams of moving up in the department. I really enjoyed this thriller/mystery and will definitely watch the series and read the series.
One thing I noticed is that the book made a strong point to show how INhuman Dexter is - many times the author simply told us this. Anyone can deduce that a serial killer does not possess many of the characteristics that define us as human, and I thought it was overkill (pun intended) for the author to keep slapping this in my face. The television show (what I have watched so far) HUMANIZES Dexter so he is more of a strong protagonist and actually a likable person...well, as likable as a sociopath can be. You'll see if you pick up the show via print or DVD, but I don't think you will be disappointed either way.

I like this type of horror where we are in the mind of the crazy person and knowing it is an unreliable narrator
