A lot of alliteration. Dexter is really annoying.

I've watched the series and I like the show more, however I really liked the book. Not my normal genre, but the fast paced energy and jokes made it easy to go through. The book is also slightly different from the series so it was a nice surprise that the show changed the plot a little. The wrap up of the book was FAST.

Show is better. I found the narrative in this book annoying. The show he is more funny and keeps you on his side.

As Dexter, our protagonist, sees the world, he is usually right. A good story that will keep you entertained and slowly build the mistrust of the character you follow. Dexter, a serial killer, works with the police as a forensic scientist in order to solver murders across the city (and to potentially find his next victims too).

Dexter's moral code makes him palletable to the reader - using his underlying dark urges as a quirky character trait that becomes personified as the back seat driver. After all, it isn't "really" Dexters fault, is it?

A great holiday or casual read for those looking for a dark comedy.

Dexter is an amazing character, reflective of the complexities of the human psyche and what can happen to a person when they're traumatized. I enjoy the way he is written. And the plot is very interesting, very close to the show as well, nearly word for word sometimes.

I DO not like the racism and sexism from the author leaking through into the writing, the way that LaGuerta is portrayed in the book, even
SAing Dexter? </spoiler? I dunno. And the
incest plotline
is so ingrained into the writing from the very beginning it's hard to get past. Overall though it's a good book and I enjoyed it and I enjoyed Dexter. 4/5

What a nice read :)
I watched the show a while ago and enjoyed it, reading it was equally as entertaining. From what I remember the details are pretty much parallel with some minor changes. I'd recommend if you're already interested in the series as this was a nice refresher.
