Did not like the dialogue and was boring at times.
3.5 stars. I normally love Jackson's writing because of its rich and textured attention to relationships and family history. This one was very different and decidedly a thriller. As a result, it didn't hold quite the same appeal for me. But, if you're looking for a quick and very twisty (there were some moments where I gasped) novel, this one was enjoyable.

As a new mom, the pot Ray al of motherhood rang so true. I found the story compelling and the main character incredibly relatable. This book was a nice change of pace from what I normally read and I found the twist at the end to be unexpected- which I rarely get to say!

Overly long and drawn out, but gained an extra half a star by having an ending I didn't see coming.
I wanted to like this book, but from the start I was put off by the hyperbolic language that described the most mundane of situations. As the plot progressed, the plot holes became more glaring. This story never felt believable to me. It felt more like someone wanting desperately to get an A in a suspenseful writing class and trying a bit too hard.
In fairness, it was a gripping read and a page turner. The author did a good job of describing the inner angst and anguish of her protagonist, and presented a believable account of a woman wracked with guilt from her sordid past and struggling with an eating disorder. But the story itself? Meh. I won’t be reading the author’s other books.

Popsugar 20/50: a book with a title that caught your attention. I enjoy a good thriller. This one was definitely a thriller. It had too many “plot twists” for my taste. Only two of them got by me. It was okay.
