Dark King: A Mafia Romance
Advantage Play, Book 2
By: Kelsie Rae
Narrated by: Kelsey Navarro, Aaron Shedlock

I could not wait to start this second book of the Advantage Play series! This is my kind of listen! Romance, suspense, a little angst, a lot of action, the perfect story for my ears! You have to listen to book one to understand what is happening, so grab that if you haven't yet. Kingston has a lot on his plate. He is watching his rivals, but now it's personal. His sister is gone and as it should be, family comes first. He will do whatever it takes to bring his sister home. And with the help of some unlikely candidates, and the love of a good woman, he is geared up and ready to go. Plot twists and turns keep the suspense high, and surprises coming. And such sweet revenge! Rae has a knack for writing this kind of story, and I am looking forward to what she has coming next with Little Bird.

Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro continue their incredible narration. These two compliment each other well and hone in on the characters so believably that it's like a movie playing. Loved this book!

Good but teasing

It was definitely a good ending to the story, with a few small things left open ended (these will be concluded in the next book but don’t affect Kingston’s and aces love story, which concluded in this book). Honestly, I really did like the storyline, all though it was predictable. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of “steamy” scenes. I guess I just expected more in that sense? I mean, if the author can write about sex trafficking, murder, torture, etc, she should be able to give us a good bedroom scene, but it glazed over them. Kingston has some major alpha male vibes that can get you hot and bothered, but I was just left bothered by the lack of physical contact, and that’s just a personal preference so I don’t want to take stars off for that. I just felt teased lol the author did a great job of showing the attraction and lust between the characters, and even wrote scenes showing foreplay, but the moment it would actually be time to get down and dirty... the scene ended. WHAT. A. TEASE. Not everyone wants to read a bedroom scene, I get that. So again, I’m not gonna take off stars for that, but my recommendation for this author is to not leave us hanging like that again lol

Again, She did it again!!! I loved this new style! Im gonna need more mafia style books from her. She's got a niche for this. I loved Kingston and his Dark King persona.

The ending of the first book had me worried about where this was going. This book was absolutely insane in the best way. It was dark and violent yet romantic. This book is one heck of a wild ride and I NEED more.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the second book in this series where the ill-fated human buy-in card game is on the cusp of destroying everything kingston holds dear. Ace has to fit to get herself heard but with new allies the dark king sets out to protect his family. Great read, can't wait to see where the next book goes.

Dark King is the conclusion to the Advantage Play series. It was just as dark and grueling as the first book. I would recommend this series.
