This book really surprised me.  I once again saw the art and was intrigued.  It took me a bit to get into it, as there’s a lot more text than most graphic novels, but it’s a fun quirk that really lets you get to know the characters and town.  I should give the trigger warning for homophobia and religious trauma for those who want to check it out.  Those themes blindsided me when I was reading.  But it was incredibly relatable and somewhat therapeutic.  What I really liked about the story was how real it was.  Everyone had their own struggles and flaws—very realistic teenage stuff—and in the end, not everything was solved.  Everyone just tried to grow up and move on.  It’s definitely a heavier read than I usually go for, but I highly recommend the book both for the phenomenal story and the next level art.  Nicole Goux’s illustration is flowing and expressive, and it really adds to the work.

ARC received thru my place of work.

I liked the concept and wished it had been developed more. A lot of the conflict seemed rushed, as did some of the relationships. There was also an odd emphasis on people's right or left handedness for no reason, and some things felt put in just for relatability. Additionally, it brought in a lot of things that seemed like the start of story hooks that just sort of went no where. Overall it feels incomplete.

Also tw for suicide mention towards the beginning, and a full two page spread of what is very obviously a bunch of teen boys masturbating
