I have had this series sitting on my bookshelf for ages now and I figured “why not start them now?”. I read TL in 2 days but that is because I skimmed the last 100 pages or so. It wasn’t bad per se, just the major plot twist wasn’t super realistic and what the MMC did was unforgivable. But, because I am curious about the next couple in book 2, I will keep reading.

Pages 14-15: “Ava. Of course. Josh’s little sister was so sweet and sunshiny all the time, I half expected flowers to sprout on the ground whenever she walked and a coterie of singing woodland animals to trail behind her while she traipsed through the meadows or whatever girls like her did”.
Page 32: “We’re stuck with each other for the next year, so I want to make our lives easier. Just take your damn cookies. You can eat them, throw them out, feed them to your pet snake Nagini”. Did you just compare me to Voldemort?”
Page 69: “I’m not your toy, Ava. Don’t play with me unless you want to get hurt”.
Page 81: “You’re not my type. No, then who is your type? Ian Somerhalder?”
Page 158: “Do you taste that, Sunshine? That’s the taste of you signing your life away. Because from now on, I own you. Body, mind, and soul”.
Page 161: “No kissing or face to face contact during sex. I thought those were your rules. You’re right, sweetheart. But the rules don’t apply to you”.
Page 192: “What happened at your father’s house? I told you, nothing it was just the lake. You can’t kill a lake. I’ll drain every fucking lake and ocean in the world if I have to. I’d do anything for you. No matter how twisted or impossible”.

The person I was would hate the person I've become because apparently I am now a person who enjoys these types of books. (I blame Fourth Wing for the radical change in brain chemistry.)

This medium-burn enemies-to-lovers(ish) was so completely and utterly over-the-top with its plot that there was nothing left for me to do but enjoy the hell out of it. A literal princess? Why the eff not. I will not spoil the absurdity here, suffice to say, it comes at you on a level that can best be described as "geyser".

What a ridiculous beach read. Naturally, I ordered all the books in the series and am embracing the madness.
