The Autumnal is an old fashion fairy tale retelling. It does what it sets out to do. Nothing more yet nothing less. Nicest thing to read on a rainy day.

all 2.5 stars go to the stunning art, which is definitely a 5/5. the plot, however, really went downhill once the mystery was introduced. past the point of being intriguing, it was  not great for me.

Revolves around problem between mother and daughter; Kat with her daughter came to to an eerie town to see her dead mother that abandoned her since she was young. While the art is enticing enough, I found that the story predictable and quite boring.

I was really expecting to love this but it was only okay. I couldn't seem to like the main character, and the characters took way too long to come to the main plot developments - 'twist' seems too strong a term.

If it had been illustrated by Tyler Crook then I think it would have been visually stunning, but even with the beautiful red leaves everywhere the art was still... only okay.
