all 2.5 stars go to the stunning art, which is definitely a 5/5. the plot, however, really went downhill once the mystery was introduced. past the point of being intriguing, it was  not great for me.

Atmospheric with small-town creepy vibes. Gorgeous and creepy illustrations that made me squirm at times. Felt like it could have had some more time to build up the main character's motivations and justify her choice at the end of the climax. Made me feel similar things to Midsommar in its more suggestive and atmospheric tension than outright horror until the very end. Fun ride!

Stepford wives meets wickerman! Great folk horror, lots of really spectacular motifs and imagery, you will fear the leaves!

I don’t feel like the ending paid off. Maybe this would work better as a miniseries, but the action was stagnant. And Sybil wasn’t well-developed enough. Neither was the relationship between Sybil and Kat (or Kat and Tracy for that matter). It all happened very fast without enough building of suspense or mystery. But it was a cool concept.

Creepy and unsettling in the best ways! Perfect for Fall reading, though it may make you think twice before walking through a leaf pile. One of the best comics I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of them!
