Not an overly captivating read or romance.

The hero is very unlikeable at the beginning and though there is some redemption for him it's a slog to get there. You kind of dislike the hero for most of the book. Him not knowing what his wife looked like and forgetting he was married was just, ugh. This was a slow burn romance as well, but a little too slow burn for my liking. And a bit too clean. You get no chemistry between these two until the last chapter and then one kiss during the last paragraph. Made the romance a little unbelievable for me.

But the villain of the story was a surprise. Didn't see that one coming. So that was interesting.

Miss Juliana Martins is now in her third season and fully expects to become a spinster in the near future. Lord Altringham is a rake, confirmed by his behaviour as he uses women and discards them as he feels. When he mistakes Juliana for a woman of ill repute, circumstances result in their immediate betrothal and marriage to save her reputation. Will they find love? I definitely enjoyed this historical romance! Lord Altringham is a bit of a jerk, so he wasn’t my favourite hero ever, but the story still turned out alright. There’s some danger and suspense along the way in this well written story. I would recommend this book if you enjoy historical romance!

Enjoyed this second book in the Convenient Arrangements series! I would give it 3 1/2 stars. I liked the way the heroine and her grandmother make the most of a bad situation and determine to win over the Earl through a subtle game of subterfuge. The rake who was forced to marry begins changing his ways when he meets the intriguing "Miss Sussex." Little does he realize it is his wife, whom he remembers not at all. Lord Altringham is somewhat annoying and not deserving of his wife, but as the story went on I began to like his desire to change. There is a mystery thrown into the story. At first I thought the attempts on Lord Altringham's life were by someone else, so the actual person who tried to kill him was somewhat of a surprise. It's a good clean romance. I'll admit it was hard to put down.
