Ich liebe Geschichten, die mich sofort in ihren Bann ziehen – und A Fate Inked in Blood hat genau das geschafft. Danielle L. Jensen entführt uns in eine düstere, von Wikingern inspirierte Welt voller Mythen, Kämpfe und Schicksalsfäden, die sich immer enger um die Heldin Freya spinnen.
Freya ist eine starke Protagonistin, die ihren eigenen Kopf hat und für ihr Schicksal kämpft. Ich habe mit ihr gefühlt, gelitten und gehofft, während sie sich zwischen Pflicht, Intrigen und der unerwarteten Anziehung zu Bjorn, dem Sohn eines Jarls, wiederfindet. Ihre Entwicklung ist glaubhaft und mitreißend, auch wenn sie an manchen Stellen fast zu perfekt wirkt – ein wenig mehr innere Konflikte hätten sie noch greifbarer gemacht.
Jensens Schreibstil ist bildhaft und atmosphärisch. Ich konnte die eisige Luft der Fjorde fast spüren, das Klingen der Schwerter hören. Die Handlung hält ein gutes Tempo, auch wenn einige Wendungen vorhersehbar sind und sich das Buch stellenweise wie ein sehr langer Prolog anfühlt. Doch genau wie ein Sturm entfaltet sich die Geschichte kraftvoll und mitreißend, auch wenn sie nicht immer unvorhersehbare Wege geht.
Trotz kleiner Schwächen ist A Fate Inked in Blood ein fesselnder Auftakt, der Lust auf mehr macht. Ich freue mich auf die Fortsetzung!

boring, heavy handed and really poorly paced . it felt like the author was really keen on writing some particular scenes so she constructed the rest of the book around those scenes but as a result put very little thought into other things, like the writing and the characters and the world building. a lot of info here was told, not shown and the writing felt really disjointed; sometimes the dialogues didnt really make sense because it was clear that the author was rushing to a destination, to write something She was really keen on. But to me neither the destination nor the journey were worth it and every aspect of this book was unremarkable to me

I saw the plot twist coming from the beginning but it was so good I didn’t even care. Absolutely ate up the romance in this. I also don’t think I’ve read a Norse inspired book before so I loved that aspect too. Freya was a little frustrating sometimes but she was also a badass and I loved her character.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I liked the Norse mythology and a different take on romantasy. The writing could be better, but I'm just here for a good time.
Main character was annoying to me, the writing did not seem to be very good. The overall story is good but predictable throughout.
I liked this enough to read the next one when it comes out but I’m sick of every romantasy book main character being exactly the same. They are always impulsive and dumb and do not pay attention to obvious things. I feel like it should have been obvious to her what was going on the whole time.
