Holy fjord this was amazing!! One of those rare books where I was entranced from the start. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the series goes

“where you go, i go, born-in-fire. even if it’s to the gates of valhalla.”

oh WOW! this was really something…right from the start i was drawn to bjorn and his witty comments, as well as the complexities of freya’s entire existence

The book itself was basically a boilerplate romantasy book. It had the same general ideas and plots. Sadly, it didn’t really do a lot original within that story.

The most interesting twists you’ll see coming, but those twists were when it finally became good. The FMC was just very generic and felt like every other romantasy heroine with no real personality of her own. Same with her MMC, who I enjoyed more but isn’t enough of. They’re basically the book so it was hard to really get into it with such flat characters and the side characters had potential but since they don’t have a POV, and the FMC doesn’t spend much time on anything but her thoughts, you don’t get enough time be attached or delve into the people who actually seemed intriguing.

The Norse mythology that was weaved was very good, and the best parts of the book. There just wasn’t enough or enough lore. Overall, it was a good enough read for me to probably read book 2, but I can wait for whenever that is. If you like the genre give it a read, it’s a good enough series start for fans of the genere.

The Audible is impossible to understand so either read along, or don’t waste money or credits on this particular Audible.
