Bridget is about to become Crown Princess of Eldorra, and the last thing her Royal future will allow is falling for her bodyguard…
This was SO GOOD, y’all. Thanks first and foremost to the Twisted support group for peer pressuring me into pushing this to the top of my tbr. I had forgotten how much I LOVE a Royal romance, but this book checked every box—forbidden relationship? Political intrigue? Storybook settings? Yes yes and yes.
I absolutely loved Bridget as an FMC—she was tough and no nonsense and fought for what she wanted. And RHYS…his grand gestures made me melt every time, I honestly loved him *so* much, and his backstory broke my heart. I also LOVED the way the third act breakup unfolded in this story—I’m usually not a fan (even though they almost always happen) but this one felt logical, fitting, and not contrived, and I appreciated the genuine growth of both MCs over the course of the book.
I could go on…but I’m typing this review at 3am because I just finished reading, and I’m positive I’ll dissolve into incoherence pretty soon. Bottom line: this was a delight of a read from start to finish.
Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: Royal romance; forbidden-ish romance; political drama

Sadly the sidecharacters weren't included more but I understand that choice to do it this way. The MCs were complex and I liked the character development of especiall the fMC.
One issue I have with this series is that, to me, it does not fit the genres. It is neither an actual dark romance nor lighthearted fluff...so I always have to be in one specific mood to read them.
The ending seems also kind of rushed, meaning after the climax of the story it was kind of meh were I had hoped for the rest of the puzzle pieces starting to fit in to be more interesting/exciting...
