Het is al meer dan een maand geleden dat ik dit boek las maar ik weet nog heel goed hoe dit boek me geraakt heeft! Het heeft alles wat een goed Nicholas Sparks boek moet hebben: een mooi en ontroerend verhaal, een vlotte schrijfstijl, boeiende personages,… De hele setting in het kleine dorpje vond ik echt geweldig! Ik zag alles zo voor mij, en de winterse sfeer van het boek maakte het nog beter! De hedendaagse tijdlijn kon me lange tijd niet bekoren, ik was vooral geboeid door het verhaal van de jonge Maggie, maar het punt waarop de puzzelstukjes samenvielen vond ik zo mooi! Ik vond het einde ook zo ontroerend! Een aanrader voor iedereen die van een goede roman houdt, en neem zeker je zakdoeken er bij!

After years of reading Nicholas Sparks, I kind of feel like he is starting to lose his heart for writing these stories. This one felt extremely predictable, and the characters fell flat. While the story was still nice, it didn't feel as special as some of his other works have. I enjoyed it, but it's not a must read in my opinion.

Such an incredibly sweet and heartfelt book. Granted it was predictable but I think it goes to say that it truly makes an author a good one when you can predict the storyline and still get caught up in the characters and emotions. Or maybe I’m just an emotional girlie. If I had to choose one word to describe this book it would be bittersweet, just feels very fitting.

I am a sucker for Nicholas Sparks and have read almost every single one of his books. Some are amazing while others are okay and seem to be the same thing in a slightly different version, but this book felt different from the beginning. As someone who works in the medical field this one seemed a lot more personal as I thought about my patients whose lives have been completely changed by their disease. The story was incredible and the ending was absolutely beautiful. I was a complete mess at the end
Good book and written in old Nicholas Sparks fashion. Timeline was pleasant to follow and the story was great.
